    Default Fishing with Bri

My older granddaughter was here for a brief visit and we set aside a couple of hours to fish. She's been my fishing buddy since she was 3 years old but with her away in college in Tennessee and her parents living in NC we seldom have a chance to fish.
We went to Murray and tried for a few White Perch. I bought a few minnows because I wasn't sure she would pick up on the bottom jigging with a spoon that we normally do.
As always she impressed me with her perseverance. First(and only) perch came on a minnow. Fishing was really slow, but I had managed a couple of small Stripers.
I heard her laughing and by golly she jigged up a Striper on the spoon. This was after an hour of non productive fishing.
We ended up with 6 non keeper Stripers and the one lost perch which went back to catch another day.
All too brief a visit and later we waved goodbye as she started the drive back home in NC.

And the Striper. Not big by any means but the fact that she caught him jigging in 60 FOW really pleased her old Pop.
Really miss spending time with her.

Time in the boat fishing is hard to replace with the grandchildren. It’s great she was able to catch a few as most of the time it’s the time spent together that is so special.
    Congratulations to both.

Ray, as we get older with more time on our hands it seems the young folks get busier and busier. Kinda sucks, but life is that way nowadays. Glad to see you two getting to spend some time together doing what you love and also seeing her catch some fish. She'll remember that trip as much as you will. Congrats.

Butch when I first joined CDC I read several of your posts about fishing with your daughter. Then as she grew up and married you lamented the lost fishing time with her.
I thought then how cool it was to spend quality time with her. I had to wait until my 2 sons each gave me a granddaughter before I had a special young lady as a fishing buddy.
Time moves by way too fast.

Glad y’all got a chance to get out! Murray was tough yesterday. We never caught a fish down lake. Looked out to 40’ for striper or bass. Birds weren’t doing much an neither were the fish. Had a tough time this winter for the most part. I plan to be out again in the rain this weekend too tho!
