    Default I have been thinking!!

Many of you that know me ,knows that this could possibly be something to worry about. Because this isn’t normal for me.
Anyway, I been thinking about slip bobber and Jig Fishing. Jigging and just different ways to crappie fish. I love night stalks , long line tip and jig , tight lines and all but I am missing the thump of the bite and this has got me wanting to get some more information on the other types of crappie fishing

I was doing some jig under a fix cork 3 weeks ago and did real well. I was fishing about 3 feet deep, cast out let it set for about 30 seconds and then wiggle it a little and let it set again. and just repeat it. It does work. Some days a lot better than others.

The only place I do that is Santee under the watchful eye of Inkdabber. You can't beat it for "getting your thump on. "
Haven't done it in a long time but casting a 1/32 jig on 4# test and letting it fall and seeing that very slight tick when a Crappie takes it is fun too. But that's the polar opposite of feeling the thump.

Use every technique to enhance your fishing/catching. Love bobber fishing but also like throwing a jig and counting down to find the fish on a pile or other structure/cover and you must add dock shooting in the mix. For many years I was stuck on spider rigging then longlining only. I still enjoy to do both when these techniques are the best choice to catch crappie but there are many days a single rod works a lot better and it is hard to beat that tap when a crappie takes your jig. I'm only kayak fishing now (Not a dinky one) but still use my 12' rods for spider rigging and a mix for longlining. If you get your craft setup for your needs there are no limits for what ever you fish for and you have never had more fun (out of bed) than catching a shark in a kayak!!

Two more years! Two more years I'll be retired and I'm coming for a "guided" trip. We might even throw a catfish or three in the boat too. The trip will be on me!

I've thought about the slip Cork and jig also. Spider rig is what I do and I'll never get away from it but I like to change things up sometimes. I'm trying to fish docks and brush but not having any luck. I'll keep working with it!

I think I it has its place. I do different ways to learn. For me I enjoy single pile brush for the thump. Spider, tght and long styles are ok for me. I was thinking about float type more this winter and spring for something different. It is fun watching the float go down kinda like a top water for bass. I fish for fun and to get out on lake. So do what you enjoy the most.
