Default Think I’m getting the hang of longlining

Went out Saturday and Tuesday and wind was too strong to longline. Had to spider rig. Caught 21 Saturday and 20 Tuesday. Went out today and figured I’d get a manageable wind that I could fight in the toon. The day started out good as I went over a few points. Bam bam bam. Sun came out and slowed down for a while. Picked off a few here and there and had 20 by lunchtime. Figured I’d try to spider rig same area I’d done well in and only had a few that were hungry. Decided I’d just push 6 poles and pull with 8 and long line some more. Found a sweet spot that whenever I passed over a hump I’d get double or a triple. Man that Chinese fire drill was fun. I fished .7-1.1 with wind out of the east. Had 1/32 horsehead jigheads w natural plastics or b&m chartreuse grub tipped with a minnow. When pulled over humps the fish were ready to pounce. Ended the day w 47 thrown back for another day.

Nice job. It sure is fun when you are catching them. I love long lining or pulling cranks. Spider rigging gets boring for me, but it puts them in the boat sometimes when nothing else will.
