I have been doing well with Crappie last 6 times catching 30 plus in main lake brushpiles. Amazing what retirement and time can do for your fishing. . Brettw is a master with handties and we can up with a winner. Last 6 outings this same jig caught over a 100 crappie. When the magic jig slowed down I would go to Booby Garlands monkey milk and blue thunder. All crappie caught with those jigs no minnows. Did from time to time put a nibble on. . Would hit 10 to 15 brushpiles a day to get them.
    The Brettw magic jig.

As you can see the magic jig is battle weary and is now going to be retired.

In the morning I put my brand new ACC Crappie stick next to my trolling motor and went to turn the trolling motor and heard a crack. So I decided to hoist it up and named my boat SS Dumb***.

I was sick at first but eventually got over it. Man the senior moments are times of grief and funny. Was nice to finally figure out a summer pattern and next year know what to do for Lake Wylie clear water in Summer.

Had fun with Ron and it was a great day to share with someone.

Tired of it getting nicked up on line , rods, sandwiches, coolers, hats, tackle boxes, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, ropes and anchors, remote controlers, and the like

Sounded like fun until the crunch part! Glad you got a go to jig and hate you broke the rod. You are right about being able to fish more in retirement than while holding down a job. If you fish the fall and winter bite you'll be on top of them when the spring comes around. Enjoyed your post. I got a couple of purple hair jigs if you want them!
