Strangest thing about the triples. We hit the same spot Friday as Monday and bang! 2 triples in a minute and then nothing. I know they move in large schools but I'm wondering if they are scattered a bit in this really warm weather because we are just picking up one or two at various spots.
Usually if we get one or two real fast there are dozens more feeding.

Don't get everyone excited Brett! There are enough people down there as it is. In fact you should try going there! Ray can guide to some of the great spots. SeaRay, we felt the same about the perch being scattered for what ever reason on our last two trips. I see Steve is picking up more and more recently on his blog on YouTube. Using slider jigs 2.5 long. Just wish it wasn't so far to pull a pontoon to!

Guess who Tom and I had join us today? Tom said technically it wasn't a Skunk because I caught 2. When neither fish was longer than your 3" lure, that's a Skunk. To paraphrase Shakespeare, " A skunk by any other name would smell as bad".

Pepe, is everywhere now days but that will change with the weather. It will be great to have a cool day for a change. Heck, I'd even take a foot of snow right now!

I didn't post this as a separate trip. Figured folks tired of me talking about Monticello. Wondered If anyone would see PePe. We going tomorrow. I noticed Comalader didn't post anything for Monday so he may have struggled also.
If he's there tomorrow I'll ask him.

Ray, I don't think anyone would be tired of a fishing post, good or bad. As much as we post about Wylie, they don't seem to be any others posting their catches or skunks on the board. Just us locals and a few others from NC. Even if you post how you broke the records on skunks you know we would read it and reply! You do your thing and don't worry about it! I enjoy your tales!

One thing about Steve's videos. He used to get into the fish in the morning and be all excited about getting home and posting it so people could enjoy it that night. That has changed this summer. After catching fish on Murray and then coming out time and again and his spots having 10 boats on it, he has started holding a lot of his good footage for several days so he has time to enjoy a good bite before the world finds out about it. Also his wife is having back issues and she helps him with his editing so it's taking him longer to turn the videos around. Just didn't want people to think if they see Steve catching them that it was from the moning of his publish date. I know of one schooling fish video this summer that he held for 5 or 6 days before release.

Yea we chatted about that with him. Main thing was if he posted that night he had a pile of boats sitting on his spot. Plus his wife's health issues made it sometimes hard to do the editing in one day.
He's a good guy though, and I've enjoyed getting to know him. He knows my boat so he'll stop and chat if he heads in before me.

Yes sir, Steve is a great guy. I've only known him the last 3 years or so but he has really educated me on some of the vertical fishing I enjoy so much.
