Nice pic Searay at. Yes older units can make good pics. This was on 10 feet of water you have some deeper pics. 2nd Gen can make good pics. It takes a lot of things to line up to make good pics. Fish o man first search for proper alignment of transducer To get level. After that it is getting settings setup right.

Agree. I certainly wasn't knocking the new high tch stuff. If I could afford it I'd have a new 12" carbon unit. I do have the Lowrance HDS Touchscreen unit and it is way smarter than me.
I was just making the point that sometimes you may not be using your current model to it fullest potential.

Searay I did not took it that way. I post the pics to show you can get them that good even with a novice like me. If you have a gen 2 you can get them just as good as a 3 because of the difference of the two is not much.
The difference is in sonar and in the mega plus you can scan hi def 25% further even a gen 1 can get good pics if setup correctly.
Videos on YouTube can help a lot.

My buddy bought and HDS Touchscreen after seeing mine. He has his SI so fine tuned he can see bream beds and fish on them. Mine's nowhere close to his.
