    Default Got caught

We as in Greg my son and his son DJ plus Ferlon and his son Jordan went out to Wylie late evening yesterday and fished for a while before dark and onto the night. Had two small lighting storms roll around us off in the distance and thought we were going to be okay! NOT happening at a 20% chance of rain I thought! Heck of a rain storm and popping lighting rushed in on us. We thought it may pass as fast as it came. Not happening, it hung on us for at least 30 minutes. We managed to get to the bridge at the Nuclear station to get some cover over us as the lighting was hitting land all around us. Beautiful show! I'm not scared of it but I think Ferlon was getting a little worried. DJ is 11 and he just covered his ears. After waiting out the biggest portion of the rain and the lighting moved on toward Clover we packed it in and came to Ebenezer ramp. Got to the ramp it stopped raining.: Doh: But we were soaked and ready to go. We did catch some fish in a new hole I think will be a hot spot later on. 17 crappies all good solid 10-12" and 4 catfish biggest about 4 pounds and two bass about 2-3 pounds plus of course perch found us, lots of them. So, if you think 20-25% chance of rain won't get you wet then come and go with us!

Hey! For a short trip ya'll did good. I wouldn't mind having those couple bass filleted and fried up. It's been awhile since Ive ate any of them.

We were lucky to make it to the bridge when we did. This storm just popped up. I guess the heat and cooler clouds caused it. We don't usually keep the bass but Ferlon was keeping the fish we caught on this trip. I ask him if he was going to throw them back and he answered very quickly heck no! It was a short trip and the fish did cooperate with us. Set up in 19 foot of water with lights toward the bank about 40 yards from shore. It is a sudden drop after 6 feet from the bank. Marked lots of fish and bait when we arrived and said to myself this is it. Flat bottom no brush around. Green light with three white lights on the side. Most fish came between the green hydro glow and my 26 watt curly bulb in 6 to 10 foot of water. DJ and I mastered a couple of rods while everyone else was wanting in our seat. I think I have caught more from under the curly bulb than regular 12 volt or inverted 110 volt lights. Butch, I haven't had fried bass in almost 30 years I guess. I think I better get busy and go to the pond and get me a couple good ones to fry up!

Brett, I was watching the other two sets of storms moving south of us and north over charlotte on the Accu Weather app. Then this gully washer showed up coming in from Lancaster area moving faster than I thought plus it didn't go around to the north like it looked like on the app! Sky was clear then bam all heck broke lose. I respect lighting and I like to watch it even at close range. Last night was a good night to watch it. But not on the water that close.

I was out on stumpy pond and watched those storms move in Mike said look at the lightning so I turn around and sure enough seen it. We managed to keep 8 crappie with the biggest being 1.9 lbs according to my little scale. Overall nice night was glad when I got a message saying let's go it was much needed.
