    Default Jacks Creek Landing Closed

Went to put in at the creek this week only to discover that the landing and campsite is cleared out and fenced off. Anybody know what's going on with the property?

There are two separate stories circulating. To start, a warning was posted at the landing that it would close on the last day of April. Any campers/trailers or any other belongings not removed by that time would be removed via whatever means needed. The first rumor heard was that it was purchased and condos will be erected in place of the landing. That seems far fetched, as there are condos just up the road that wouldn't sale. The other, and much more believable story was the ramp and surrounding land was purchased to a high end duck club. Hard to believe that one of the most popular landings on the lake is gone due to the almighty dollar. To make matters worse, that crook at Carolina King jumped his launch fees from 5 to 10 dollars as soon as jacks closed down!

Thanks Ink, the last time I was there was around the first of March. They were closed and I didn't have change to pay the launch fee so I put an IOU in the box. Was hoping that they hadn't closed because of my IOU!!!! The duck club seems far fetched as it is right next to the refuge but whoever has it put up a hell of a gate across the road. I put in at Pollys and was asking them what was going on. They were not sure either but they did mention the condo scenario. Nice people at Pollys and very secure. Not a bad ride up to the creek. Had very little luck with the fish Wednesday.

Probably a rich person just wanting a nice spot on the lake! Lost our hunting property to a rich guy several years ago who gave us a week to get off the property. Anything left was his. Crappier things have happened! Hope it opens up better than before and open to everyone!

Some fond memories of some bow fishing tournaments. Jacks Creek was always one of my favorites around the refuge. Musta been some FANTASTIC bream fishing there as well because during the mornings the small boats would flood that area fishing the cyprus tree stumps.
