    Default Saturday at Santee

We made our annual trip to the Santee this weekend. Picked the hottest day of the year so far which is our luck. Got to Hill's around 6:30, NO LIVE BAIT (also our luck). Had to buy frozen river herring . Started in the canal but the water was pulling pretty hard. Moved out to Marion and anchored in a stump field in 12'. Couldn't get lines out and had one on. She got wrapped around a stump at one point, so we had to ditch the anchors and go unwrap ourselves to land her. After another 45min of no action, we started drifting and picked off a few more.
We tried that afternoon for shellcrackers. Picked off a few, but nothing huge. Got ran off the water with thunder earlier than we would've liked. All around good weekend with the wife and dog!! Video is attached. Please like and subscribe. If the wind and wave cooperates I'll hopefully have a spearfishing video next week!!!

Great video, glad you got a few. Which campground were you in? Our guys that cat fished also got two nice Stripers within the slot limit. Both around 6-7 pounds. First time Jeff had caught a Striper that he could keep. Usually and inch too short or an inch too long.
Mark 1:17 ...I will make you fishers of men

There have been some reports that good slot stripers were being caught down there in the last couple weeks. I was kind of hoping that where we were fishing, we might stumble onto one, but no go there. We stayed at Rock's Pond Campground.
