Happened to me at butla years ago when me and my ol lady first got together. Borrowed a buddy's jon boat to spend a day out on the water. Come in and I dropped her off at Dub Patton while I went out to see how fast a 14' with a 30 on it would run.
Pulled the drain plug and took off getting all the water out of the boat. Pulled all the water out and when I reached down to put the plug back in I bumped the tiller handle. The boat cut a 90 and me, a tackle box, and a brand new GPS kept going straight.
No life vest on, wind knocked out of me and my buddies boat going in circles with the throttle stuck wide open and no drain plug in.
Watched my then new girlfriend now wife talk to a bunch of guys putting in a pontoon and I thought they were coming to save me. I hit one of the lowest points of my life as I watched them go the other way. Swam for the boat and as the boat went by I grabbed ahold of it. It yanked my shoulder out and the drag was just too much. So I watched it go around a couple more times and decided I would get in front of it and grab on to the front. Reached up and grabbed the front and it yanked my other shoulder out of socket and the drag again wouldn't let me lift myself up into the boat. I shimmied all the way down to the back of the boat with my feet curled up touching my butt so as not to get into the prop and after several tries I finally was able to reach the kill switch cord. Pulled myself into the boat and laid down in the floor of the boat exhausted and in pain. Laid there until the water in the bottom of the boat was over my ears. Rolled over and crawled over the rear bench and put the plug back in.
I had been out in the water for over an hour and my lovely girlfriend had been on the boat ramp floor over an hour. I realized how tough our must have been on her to be on dry land for that extended period of time so I cranked the motor up and eased back to the ramp. She is waiting for me to back the trailer down and with her hands on her hip and in a very mean voice, she says "WELL IT'S ABOUT TIME! WHAT THE HE'LL HAVE YOU BEEN OUT THERE DOING? " I cannot post on here any of my reply back to her but I think it would have made Samuel L Jackson blush with shame.
I am now getting back into wearing a cord to be a good example for my son and so he doesn't have the same thing happen to him. He may not be so lucky to have a loving girlfriend who is looking out for him. Lol
