That guy was very fortunate. Life can change in a split-second. Videos like this should remind us all to hope for the best but plan for the worst.

That's a good reminder to always wear the lanyard to your kill switch.

Could have been bad news! I'm guilty of not wearing mine at times.

Question: can you get one put on if your motor doesn't have one?

He is extremely lucky he did not get hit. I am like most, hardly ever use the kill switch lanyard. Watching this video has made me aware of the need to wear it every time and I will going forward..

I witnessed the same type thing around 1990 at the ramp at Buster Boyd. It was crazy cold so hardly anyone at the ramp. I noticed a boat going in circles but it took me a min to realize it was a bad situation. The guy had on a life vest and was maybe 100ft off the shore when I saw him. In that situation the throttle was closing slowly due to the bouncing of the boat and eventually went to an idle. The guy said he had let go of the wheel and the motor suddenly turned and threw him out.

I know you can install them on a tiller steer motor. I've seen a couple youtube videos on how to properly wire them in. I'm assuming you can on a remote steer as well, but I'm not sure where to even begin on how to do it.
