Default First time back at the Hill in 2 years!

Missing fishing at the Hill through the spawn should never happen to us upstate fisherman but I have not fished the Hill in 2 years. To say I was excised to Sundays trip is a under statement!! I called my oldest grandson on Friday and told him about planning to fish the Hill on Sunday, Chris being into kayak fishing also he was pumped for the trip too. Been wanting to take him to the Hill to pass on some of my knowledge of the lake and crappie fishing for awhile. The water was muddy and but with water surface temps 58 degree I thought we would find the bite being good. Wasn't happening, we pulled jigs and jigs tipped and also tried shallow water and bank fishing. The crappie we caught were good fish but wasn't stacked anywhere we tried. We only seen one boat crappie fishing and we talked with them as they passed and they only had one crappie after fishing most of the day also. So I think with the water conditions and stiff winds our catch was good with his 4 keeper crappie and my 6 keepers. A long ride and a long day but I wouldn't trade the memories for anything.

Those are some nice fish and I bet they tasted pretty darn good also. Congrats on the trip, both catcng some fishand sharing the memories with your grandson. I bet he enjoyed being with you too. Better bites are coming, we just need a few days of warm weather back-to-back and it should be ON!
