    Default Talquin was a success!

Made a quick trip down to Talquin over the weekend. Arrived about midnight Friday night. Fished all day Saturday and Sunday. Bite was slow for most it seemed. We caught 36 total and kept 23 whoppers to eat. That place sure has the Slabs! Best quality I have seen. Biggest was 1.90 but had 8-9 that big! Lost one fat one as we were trying to net it. Went in the net and then came out and got unhooked. It was much bigger than anything we caught. I guess 2.5lb range at least. Caught about half pushing jigs tipped with minnows and half long-lining jigs with crappie bites. Bobby garland bodies on RR 1/16 heads with 1/16 split shots mostly. Various colors. Water was 63 Saturday and 65 yesterday. Plenty of wind! All fish came in at least 20’ in the channels mid lake. It’s worth the drive!

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!

It’s about 7 hours from western NC for me. I’ll probably go again next year.

Worked out good! I like having everything networked. Running the TM from the console is very convenient. I also avoided all the stumps. Not as much to worry about when you don’t have a lower unit.
