    Default Monticello Sunday 1/6

Well after a swift mud rescue of the boat, went to Monticello and had a great day on the water. High of 75 degrees and might have got some sunburn on my face. The fish were scarce and didn't want to bite. Wound up with a 5lb channel cat, 3 15" blues, and about a dozen keeper perch. all on minnow except the channel cat that wanted a jigging spoon. I was all over top of them perch, they just didn't want to bite.

All in all, a fantastic weather day for a first week of January!!
    I don't fish because I want to, I fish because I HAVE to !

    Moma tried real hard.

It certainly was a gorgeous day. My wife and I went on a near 7 mile hike then went for a drive. We ended up at the 99 boat ramp on lake Monticello. The lake was slick, with a good many boats out and about. I seen birds diving and some schools of fish breaking. Unsure why the bite was poor, other than the high pressure had them shut down. If the bite is going to be poor, at least the day was perfect. Thanks for the report.

Really nice at Back River, too. Wife and I got some nice crappies tightlining jigs. A couple of idiots ruined the peace and quiet with their speed boats and jet skis just about the time we were headed in.

I haven't been back to Bushy Park since the cool mornings a month or so ago. So much going on during the holidays, along with the weather being crappy every time I seem to get a day off.
