    Default Monticello 11-29-18

We put in at the upper landing about 8 this morning. Temp was 27. Ran a short distance down the lake. Started fishing in about 40' using minnows, large shinners & spoons. Caught a couple of small perch on minnows & spoons. Did not mark much. Tried several spots at different depths. We caught most of our fish between 45 to 50'. All the perch were caught just off the bottom.

We did catch 5 bass & 2 cats. The largest bass was around 6 lbs. Cats were small.

Made a run down the lake to the boundary markers. Made a long drift but did mark or catch anything. Ran back up the lake to just below the first island from the upper end. Stopped in about 45' again. Finally, started catching a good many perch. Most were small but had about 25 about a pound. Had 74 perch in all.

Most of the perch were caught on a drop shot rig using minnows.

The upper 1/3 of the lake seems to be the place to be.

Good to see & talk to tackleboat.

Rhemus, Big Dawg, and I along with along with a collection of miscreants are headed to Monticello in the morning. Charles, be sure to send Remus all the coordinates so we know where to fish .

Good catching Mr. Charles. Hopefully we'll find a few to have some fun with. Thanks for the report.

We had a good day, the pattern made a big change, I couldn’t catch any on the slider jigs. Finally put a jigging spoon on I made and the ate it up. Charles was right they were on the bottom tight. We were on small fish, usually have to throw back 4 for every 1 kept. The loons were thick and it was tuff throwing little ones back without feeding the loons.
