    Default Monticello 11/14

Well I couldn’t stay off the perch. Wasn’t going today, weather man said rain, wind, and cold. Woke up at 2:00 am, flipped and flopped till 3:30. What the heck, hooked up the boat and was pulling out by 4:00. Big breakfast in Union and got to the lake 20 min. before daylight. Wish I had a witness, slayed the largemouth again and a nice cooler of perch.

Nice catch. Those are some good size perch. Looks like we may head down that way Friday since the weather looks ok. We were on wylie for a little while this morning till the rain & wind got the best of us. All we caught were about 30 small perch for catfish bait.

Normally, we go after cats at Monticello but your catch has got us wanting to try for the perch & bass. The bass would just be a bonus.

Charles if you try the perch I used a double rig 1/4 ounce jig head with a pearl white and pink pearl slider grub. Get close to the loons and the birds in 30-40 ft. Beat the boat with a thumper stick, drop to the bottom and reel up slow about 10 ft. No bite drop back. The bigger perch were up 6-8 ft.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!

If I can remember how to operate my boat I am hoping to hit Monticello next Friday or Saturday while everyone else is shopping. Spose to take boat up to Southport mid Dec for some salt water fishing. Last time I used it was up there in June. My buddy's pond and cabin have spoiled me something awful.
