Default Pointers for perch on Wylie?

Hi - we're pretty new to the LKW area. Want to take my kids out perch fishing for hopefully a lot of action. Any pointers you guys can give me? Perch fishing is new to me. Our boat is docked at harbortown on the south fork, so ideally would like to stay north of buster boyd bridge.

Looks like a couple of you guys crush it out there, so any info at all is appreciated!

    Thanks!

going in the morning, if you go up from busterboy, to mill creeks, there are perch all around up there, main lake points and humps on mainlake, river channel drop offs. I'll be there in the morning if its not raining. worms about a foot off bottom or minnows.

Crappie minnows & small spoons are also good for perch. We get the most bites fishing just off the bottom in 15 to 25'. Often, spots that would hold bass are a good place to start. End of points & humps are good. If you run out of bait, cut the perch up into small pieces & use them for bait. Perch will eat almost anything but sometimes they are picky.

    Good luck.

    Thanks guys!

Yeah I watched some of Dieter's videos, and they pointed me to the rig and baits to try. Will also try some of the suggestions here. But my challenge has been finding them. We drove around this past weekend looking on the fish finder and didn't seem to come across any big schools that were obvious to me. So I'll try the area around mill creek and see what I can find there. Thanks for the suggestions! If you have any other spots you think are worth trying, please let me know!

We have a great population of white perch on Clarks Hill, and I've spent a good amount of time finding and catching them. But they can be extremely hard to spot at time on the graph. Many times after finding them on an earlier trip, I've returned to the same area and seen little to nothing...maybe a couple of small "bumps" along the bottom. But when I dropped a minnow or spoon, the bite was immediate. After catching a couple, the graph is often "lit up" with a cloud of them. They were nearly invisible before the first couple bit and got the school active. So my advice would be to try a few areas with small minnows, whether you see much or not. Perch are typically pretty aggressive, and you'll know if they are there quickly. Good luck!

We found all of ours on Saturday on channel ledges or drop offs. 90% of ours came in 18-25'. If you are taking the kids, be sure to bring a fish towel to grab your fish with. The fins on the gills will get ya every time.
Minnows work best for bait for us, but I like to use little pieces of cut perch. It seems to stay on longer. Good luck, hope the kids have a blast.
