    Default Wylie 7-19-18

Back out on wylie this morning fishing mostly for cats. Tried several spots dragging cut bait but caught only 15 cats. All small & mostly channel cats. We marked a lot of fish at one spot but caught 3 cats at the same time, then nothing more.. Ran down toward Joslin park & tried again. About the same results, several cats at one time, then nothing.

Seemed like all the fish we marked were not over 25' deep. About 11, we drifted across one spot dragging cut bait & the graph lite up big time. Strange, all the marking were from 10 to 20' deep setting in 40' of water. Here, we caught about 40 perch on cut bait & spoons. These bit close to the top of the water. The cut bait on the bottom got no hits.

Wear them out Mr. Charles! Thanks for the report! Hope to get back out there next week if the weather lets me and heat don't kill me at work. I need to try your spoon tactics out. Any particular type? Treble hook or single hook?

I have the best luck using a 1/2 oz gold spoons made by war eagle. Usually, I just let the spoons drop all the way to the bottom, then jerk it up & let it fall. However, all the perch I caught thurs were down about 10 to 20' although we were setting in 40'. Just guess about how deep it is falling, then jerk it up & down.
