    Default Back to My Roots

Had a great weekend on the water. It was the first time back out since I cut the end of my thumb off a couple weeks ago!!! Friday the wife and I went out trolling cranks on Wylie. Gotta say I like this a lot better since its more like offshore trolling. We caught 1 small crappie and 3 small bass. All were sent back. Not bad for the first shot at this type of trolling. Fish were in 15-25 FOW.
Sunday we loaded up a 4 man crew and went to Charleston for an offshore meat run. Started by trolling for kings, nothing doing there. Picked up an ran out to 110' for bottom fishing. We had a 4 man limit of Vermillion Snapper in under an hour. One of the guys caught his first Cobia which was just over 24 pounds. I lost a grouper in the reef after a 5 minute fight, where we locked out the drag on a Penn 5000 and he didn't seem to care("the one that got away"). We ran back into 60' and sent my dad down to spearfish. He came back with 2 Sheephead!! Called it quits and was back at the ramp by 3:30.
Gonna be a 4th of July Fish Feast!!! Everyone be safe out there this week!!

Sorry for you thumb but looks like you are not letting it stop you, the offshore cooler looks good and when you can go fishing with friends or family you can't beat that.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!
