Only one little crappie jigging a white roadrunner. The kid caught the catfish on a white roadrunner too. Tons of bream and what I call white perch but not sure of the actual name. Everything in 1-2 foot of water. Can’t really nail down a pattern but randomness is working.

Good report and I think you are correct on the dreaded White Perch. Most of our large reservoirs have large populations of them.

They are in Keowee, along with the tons of spotted bass. They may have not took hold like in other lakes but they are thereMarion 6/24-26 I’ve even caught a couple in Jocassee. I miss catching those big crappies we used to catch in Keowee 20-25 yrs ago.

Good catch and memories made to last a lifetime. You may want to try a little deeper for the crappie

We have tried deep and shallow. It’s so hot. It’s hard to dial into anything before running back to the A/C. Lol. Need to go out at night but it’s family vacation and everyone want to spend time together in the evenings. I’m ready for Fall again.

This evening went a lot better. Took the nephews out again and caught a mess of these. One crappie and a channel cat. They had a blast and that’s all that matters.

Tough first day, shell cracker that size will definitely stretch the line and make for a fun outing. I fish Marion every week, I can assure you there are ample crappie in waters 5 to 12 feet deep. Marion is a shallow, structure filled lake. Many fish live their entire lives in the shallows, so plenty can be caught regardless of time of year, or how hot in the skinny water. You just got to unlock what structure they are holding in. Most of my fish are being caught off man made brush, and shallow vegetation. Both jigs and minnows are working equally at this time.
