Great post and pictures. Looks like the young captain is already taking control of the tiller handle. A great Fathers day is definitely made when fishing with family.

Tim, you had one heck of a weekend man!!! Between the company and the fish I'd say you had a full weekend of fishing. You gotta love it!!

I often joke with my friends and family that I could fish every single day, rain or shine. Most folks couldn't/wouldn't want to do that, but I could without a doubt. It doesn't matter if it's the slowest day of the year...getting that tug lights a fire under my tail and leaves me wanting more every time. And as much as I love catching a fish, the peace and solitude fishing brings me is second to none. Hunting used to do the same, but those days have passed. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy hunting, but it's not the same enjoyment I get while on the water.

As always, I enjoyed your post and thanks for sharing!! I really enjoyed the pictures. Looks like the grandson had a time.

It's funny how you remind me of me. lol I have always fished from a wee chap. Riding my bike to local ponds, digging my own worms and catching crickets from under wood piles. One certain small lake would be pulled down several feet over the winter. I would use this time to trudge through the mud and muck looking for lost lures broke off on the the many stumps that lined the lake bottom. Hunting became a passion when I was in my teens. I lived to hear the hounds we raised jump and take chase after the wily whitetail we pursued. Nothing can get a heart pounding like a pack of dogs running and yapping towards your stand. As the dog era waned, I took to still hunting. Nothing could match the woods eerily quietness as I sat motionless in my stand. Then the excitement build as the sun began to rise on the eastern horizon. The birds chirping, squirrels scurrying, leaves rustling. Then, out of seemingly nowhere, a whitetail appears in front of you. As I got older, married, and started a family, the desire to hunt was lost. Every year without fail, when the first cold snap occurs, I get that feeling of wanting to be in a stand. But, it goes away in short order. Fishing on the other hand, is in my blood. I absolutely love it! Like you, I could go every day, regardless of weather conditions. I feel totally at home while on the water, I am at piece with all, I think out my problems, I am close to God. I love the hunt while looking for fish. I love putting in the work to make my successes that much sweeter. I enjoy when I take someone and can practically guarantee a good trip. I am a fisherman!

Nice catch and nice family. Glad to see you get out with family. I love to use the old hook minnow under slip float over brush piles. Exciting.

That's a grand slam Tim. Glad the heat didn't stop you. We fished before 9 AM and after 6PM.
