    Default Lowrance vs Raymarine

I am in the market for a new fishfinder. I have always had lowrance so that is what I was leaning towards until I started messing around with a Raymarine Dragonfly pro. I have been comparing the Dragonfly pro 5 with a Lowrance Hook 5 they are both in the same ball park price that is within my budget and both have the same features (gps, sonar and downscan). The feature i like most about the raymarine is the wifi feature so you can use a phone or tablet and run a second screen off your fishfinder. I was thinking i could use a tablet with the splitscreen sonar and downscan and keep the lake map on the main unit. Has anyone had any experience with Raymarine electronics?

I have the pro7 and really like it. Only the HB megas have as clear a screen, with a mega price. Check Walmart online for one, very good price and warranty.

For some reason I’m thinking the image on the tablet screen will match the image on the sonar unit screen. But don’t hold me to that, have not tried it. My buddy has a Garmin with Bluetooth/WiFi and that seems to be how his works. Does let you have the tablet screen at a different location from the main unit. But I don’t think (?) it doubles your screen real estate...might want to confirm before layin down the $...good luck.

I use Raymarine. I have 4 units networked together. When I had my first bass tracker I had a Lowrance hook and Raymarine running side by side and after the 2 or 3 time out I stop turning on the Lowrance. Both units would pretty much pickup the same stuff but the Raymarine images were larger and clearer. I also use my 12.9 iPad wi-fi to my units. And it is a mirror image of what you are seeing on the fish finder. I just got done upgrading to the axiom units and so far I’m really impressed with the speed of these units.
