    Default Hartwell

Finally got a chance to fish Hartwell. Went up conaross past the bridge. Pulled 1/32 roadrunners tipped with minnows. Caught 13 total. Slow bite for me , but quality was great! Had a 2lber, and a couple 1.5’s. Water temp was 62-64 and I was longlining 12-18’ ft. Didn’t really get much shallower. Read a post or two of people slaying them yesterday. A guy said they had 60 in 4 hours. I need to find that spot ! Lol

Catching the 2 pound fish makes any trip a good one Hartwell. Hartwell can be hard to fish as there is so much water but you were in a good place to fish. You may want to try shallow waters.
    Thanks for the report

Agree on hartwell being hard to fish. Try creeks with some stain in them.

The main reason I never fish hartwell is because of all that clear water. I LOVE stained water and getting far enough up the creeks to find that type water would be a major haul for me. I just stick to Russell and the Hill. Glad to see you back out fishing and posting again and congrats on that 2 lber.

I was far enough up conaross that the water was pretty stained. Once it gets narrow, it stays fairly deep a short distance off the bank. I was thinking i should have went shallower, but i was seeing crappie breaking the surface regularly , along with marking plenty of bait balls. I guess the open water fish just arent biting as well as the shallow fish in that area. I have about decided to hit Santee this weekend. Weather looks much better down south for the weekend!
