I lost 80 lbs and brought my a1c into the good range with very low carb diet. Granted I picked the carbs back up and some of the weight. Look real hard at a meat only diet with a multi vitamin for a few weeks. Educate yourself on the carbs in all your foods that you eat.

It is good news for you to be approved and the weight will come off if you work at it.
Like many I have to pull off 25 pounds also and the first 10 wasn't real hard but it has been heck to pull off the remaining 15.

    Default Knee replacement

I have had both knees replaced, although not through the VA. I know your pain, and challenge. Exercise is the best way to lose weight, but walking can be extremely painful. Not just while walking, but for hours afterwards.
File a disability claim with the VA. You will qualify for 100% va compensation for up to a year after surgery.
I'll type up more on recovery later, must get back to work.
I am 60% disabled through the VA.

I have got to lose around 20 lbs and get my a1c down some. I have to go back on the 9th of April and if I done my part then they will go ahead and schedule me for the first one. Will probably put it off until June to get in on the best fishing. I don't do much during the summer so I might as well recuperate then.
You got this Don. Sending prayers

Get the ice machine the others recommended. Wonderful piece of equipment.
Do the heal pumps all the time. Ask them when you go for your pre-surgery physical therapy session about the exercises you can do in the recliner. Buy a recliner. I slept in mine for 4 or 5 weeks. After the service I am a belly sleeper, and you can't sleep on your belly after the surgery. All that pressure on the knee is painful.
Drink plenty of water, it'll make you get up and walk to go pee. You must walk a little at a time. The knee won't be the problem. Your muscles and tendons will be sore from the surgery and they need the exercise in small doses.
BUY SOMETHING TO KEEP YOU REGULAR!!!!! That first turd after surgery will feel like a softball and be the size of a pea. The pain meds will make it hard as a diamond.

Been a year since my last knee replacement and I feel great. I can do things again. I'm more active. I've lost another 25 pounds too. you can do it. It will change your lifestyle, for the better.
