Default Lake Wylie Saturday night 02/18/17

Well we all gathered at the river for a long over due nightstalk for a couple of us. Meaning Bugman, his Dad and my brother in law Everett. We met up with the crowd and signed in and departed for a good night on the lake. Of course it had to rain a little and a chill was in the air. That didn't stop any of us. Got on the water and move into our planned set up and anchored down and got ready for some action. Bug was beside me with four rods in the water and Everett and Lynnie were on the front of the pontoon with several rods out and ready. We sat and we sat for a good while finally Bug broke the spell with the first and probably the biggest of the night. Everett also chimed in and then Lynnie. This went on for a short time and then came the waiting game again. The fish were not on fire by all means, one here one there. Ofishlbizzness set up in close to us and he was managing a few every once in a while. Ben 1 and Ben 2 were behind us and they eventually moved about and then moved completely out of the area not finding anything to bite. ScooperDude went to his secret spot and Turkeyfoot and his pal went up past us to his honey hole. Checked in with ScooperDude and he said he had 5-6 fish in the live well, not burning it up either. After a long battle of chill and dampness we pulled up anchor and went to the ramp. It was 11:30 and started to weigh fish and see if Bug could hold the lead. Ben 1 and Ben2 finally showed up and got last place due to being late. LoL As it was Bug got first dibs in the box of goodies, Turkeyfoot second and ScooperDude was next. Ofishlbizzness has the weights and will post some pictures of our gathering at the river. All in all it was good night jawing around picking at Bug about his milk money which ofishlbizzness didn't pay out. We had 18 crappies for a total and the biggest down fall was I didn't get a fish on board all night. I fished JIGS
The others can post their catch if they want to. I enjoyed the company of everyone and we'll have to do it again soon. Only tip of the night is the fish are scattered and at different depths. Water is dingy where we were. Secret XXX spot.

Nice Report BigDawgg. Wanted to go but rain and chill got the best of me. I saw the same thing as I reported on my post fish scattered all about. Glad you all meet and had fun still.

Dawgg you set a prime example why I am not a jig fisherman. I would of had 3 other rods out with minners on them. Least a good mess of fish was caught and seems like everyone had a good time. Thanks for sharing.

I ran into Torrance Creek and found fish holding, dropped a marker and headed back to set up. In the time it took to turn around the fish were gone. I poked around and found a few hanging, spot locked and dropped some lines. After an hour or so I caught a Crappie the best of the nite for me, then waited, snacked and waited some more. Then I picked up a couple more and repeat wait wait snack and a couple more.I was in 31 feet of water fishing about 18ft down, nothing was biting at the bottom. As they say it's all about location I was in the wrong location compare to Team Big Dawgg of course he told me there weren't any fish where he was going hmm, some kind of friend. :-)
Managed to hit a log or something heading out of the creek and lost my depth, luckily the transponder flipped up so no damage
Finished the night with 9 crappie 4 or 5 perch. All the crappie short one were girls full of eggs so it looks like a good Spring for baby crappies.
Got home about 1:30 to 3 happy to see me dogs ready for a walk and pee break.

Once again I had fun talking to the usual crowd plus a couple new comers.

Great pictures, thanks for adding them to our report. Bug will be glad to accept cash instead of possum milk. Who needs that anyway!
Glad we all got together again. Next time will be better.

BigDawgg I love to night fish. I will set up three poles with minnows and jig with the fourth pole. Sometimes I've seen the jig out perform the minnows and catch the bigger fish but I will not be on the lake without minnows at night time fishing.

Great time as always last night. Hate the fishing was slow, but you will have that. Hard to complain about a night in February when you don't have to have layers and layers on to do this. Look forward to another one soon!

Do you set the jig rod in a holder like your minnow rods? Also do you troll or anchor at night? Sometimes if the bite is good or run out of minnows early I'll work a jig, I don't catch a lot, but just something different. I always anchor at night but once last year I trolled and had a jig in a rod holder and it caught a couple, including the biggest of that night!
