    Smile Fishing Creek 1/16/2016

A friend at my church always goes to Fishing Creek in the winter. He has showed me pics before and after begging some time he finally said lets go.
We had 4 rods up front 4 rods in back with minnows. Fishing Channel 15 feet minnows down 10 to 12 feet. He said it has been slow last couple weeks and other boats we saw said same thing. The channel runs along a shoreline with lots of lay downs. Caught the 2 pound 13 ounce in a laydown and boy was that fun on a 4 pound 1/32 jig. Coach a few more out of laydowns while poles were not too active. Caught some quality with one for 2 pound 13 ounce and a couple more just over 2 pounds. It amazed me to see slab crappie in Winter in shallow water. I am use to fishing in 40 feet in Lake Wylie.
Still had fun even thought it was slow. Told stories and Eddie told story about his new bull he got. The other bull was not jolly over that and they fought. Eddie said you would think having 47 cattle the bull would want help.
It was fun getting back to fishing something not too wide and to deep like Lake Wylie.

Fishing Creek has some big crappies in it. We have been there on nightstalks and picked up some good ones. Glad you went and found some fish willing. Thanks for the report. You should try Stumpy Pond, it's good this time of year also. Good job CK!
