My problem is this motor is a 1999 and never had a wrench on it. I would like to take the fill plug out to check the level but I can't get it out. It is about the size of a quarter or slightly larger with a screwdriver slot. Problem is the slot is way longer and wider than my largest screwdriver and I can't get enough torque on it to loosen it. I bought one of the impact screwdrivers that you hit with a hammer to break loose, but the blades are not bigger than my regular screwdrivers and I am afraid to give it too hard a whack for fear of cracking the housing.

Nice crappie, looks like some I use to catch in Dutchman's Creek years ago, good memories.

Ray, I need to bring some of my tools and see if they'll fit what you have. I'll check mine and see about it with size. It might be the same size or not.

Ray, take a piece of steel about the right with of the slot then file it the right thickness. Once it fits use a Cresent wrench to turn the plug, maybe spray some wd40 1st. Get a new owing. And maybe change the oil yearly :-)

if your motor is a mercury, it could be the relays, has one to go up and one to go down, I've had trouble with them in the past.

This was only the second time out since the motor was serviced, it is a 2013 yamaha f115. Its not cutting in and out when lowering or raising. Almost like it was stuck, no clicking either to indicate a battery issue. I will take it out and take video this week.
