Default Eel in lake russell ?

This morning i was standing out side at the deer processor where I work and a man came walking up with a five gallon bucket and said he wanted to show me . I looked in bucket and he had a barley alive eel. he said it was the second one he had caught fishing off a pier on rocky river. Any one ever heard of them being caught this fat up from the ocean? Btw I took a pic on my phone so I would have proof

Certainly not an ocean run fish, but rather release from a bait bucket. eels are great bait for catfish and stripers.

We used to night fish at Lugoff for stripers. We always caught three or four eels a night. Some of them weighed 2-3 pounds.

hey thumper,I remember some night time striper fishing at lugoff too.seems like if we caught a eel that would be it for that spot.. the last one I've caught while bottom fishing was in 2001.

Yea, we caught them bottom fishing with cut shad. I didn't even want the slimy devils in the boat. Many folks, mostly up north, consider them to be great eating. I think I'll pass!!

I used to catch them in the Mill Pond in Lexington fishing for catfish under the bridge at S. Main/Hwy 6 there were quite many in that pond.
You can't catch fish from the couch.
