    Default Greenwood afternoon 1-9-13

Couldn't get on the lake until the afternoon and it was 12:00 on the money when I got all the lines in the water. Pulled out the spider rigging setup with minnows as I wanted to try the crappie bite deep on the river channels. I have been fishing Greenwood for many years and you don't get many calm days with out wind but today was one of them. This pic was took at 12:30

The bite wasn't fast but some good crappie were caught off the channels. I was using 1oz sinkers with a single hook rig fishing 12' deep. I was surprised that I didn't catch but two white perch today as most of the time they run you crazy while fishing with minnows.
Not sure of the number of fish caught but I did keep 10 for a fresh crappie dinner and released the rest. Here is a pic of a couple of the keeper fish.

Rosco was about to run my crazy watching the front rods so I had a rod with a jig tied on laying in the boat so I set him up at the back of the boat. He got into watching that rod and after an half hour I guess he barked and I looked back and the rod was bending! LOL so here is a pic of him with his crappie

Was a good day to be out on the lake. We fished until 5:00 and run through 4 dozen of minnows. Water is hard stained and holding about 47 degree.

Sounds like a great day on the water Ronnie. I have not been to Greenwood a lot, but that water sure is calm from what I remember. Thanks for the report and the pics. I like the one of Rosco watching the rod. Those are some nice fish.

I almost didn't go today because they were calling for the rain to start but I decided I would just get wet if I had to. Hope the rain is over by Friday and you can get on them, maybe the water will clear up a little.

Good report Ronnie and Roscoe. The water was calm at Murray today too, probably the calmest day we've had in months. Looks like Roscoe is really getting into fishing. Ncie catch.

Greenwood looks to have plenty of water and has a real nice color too. Today was a perfect day for spider rigging. Looks and sounds like it payed off for you guys too. Congrats and thanks for sharing those pictures. Enjoy your dinner and be sure to share those fillets with Rosco.
