How long have you owned these reels? And i know this is a dumb question,but can these be cast like a regular reel?

You "can" cast them like a regular baitcast reel .... but, when used for their stated purpose, you don't really have to "cast" them. All you do is flip the release lever down & if you have the spool set to freely give line, then the bait will pull the line out and when your line is out at the proper length ... just flip the lever back up and you're good to go.

I've had them about 2 years, I've always flipped the release and let the line out. I've used them 3 times before getting the smaller 15 DX models line counters.
