Default Question concerning dual Side Imaging transducer adapter cable

I bought the Humminbird 9 M SILR Y Adapter Cable so I could have dual transducers since I do not have a Jack Plate. Just had a question regarding the number of pins on the adapter cable. Each transducer has 7 pins. My unit also has seven holes to accept those pins. My question is why does the adapter cable only have six? Shouldn't there be an extra pin on the adapter cable or is it strictly by Design?

Sometimes it's cheaper to use the injection mold set up you have and not use the extra wires than it is to retool to save the cost of a pin. Connectors are made with certain numbers of pins most manufacturers pick what works best for there product line and ignore the unused/ unneeded pins. We use a cable to hook a data connection from a laptop to a plc. It us a 9 pin Connector with 2 pins utilized.

That makes sense, I was just trying to figure out what that 7th pin would be for. Since it's on the transducer side but not the adapter side that connects to the unit.
