Default Help with poor image quality on helix 9 mega si g4n

Attached are some images from Lake Eufaula Alabama as well as Lake Thollocco on Fort Rucker. Can someone help me figure out what is causing all the clutter in the water column. I've tried adjusting the sensitivity and even isolated the unit to its own battery thinking it was interference but the problem is still there. Its also very prevalent on the down image view also. It's so bad that the whole screen seems washed out.Name: 20210729_200531.jpg

In case it matters, I have dual transducers on the transom of my javelin 17. When I originally contacted hummingbird about the issue they said it could be a faulty transducer so they sent me a new one and told me that I could just keep the original. Since I do not have a Jack Plate I added the second transducer so one looks left of the outboard and the other looks right with 2d and dsi. Contacted them again yesterday they said that it could be because I have an on-board charger so they are sending me a choke cable. This afternoon I disconnected the charger from the battery to eliminate it and still gives the same results. I also killed the engine while moving to be sure it wasn't interference from it

Someone will chime in but I think your settings are off. Did you try and adjust the contrast? Change colors ?

I have tried to adjust sensitivity and contrast. As well as colors. Nothing seems to help. I've taken the sensitivity down to the negative side and the clutter is still there.

Looks like algae bloom to me. You can adjust it a couple of different ways. You can adjust your water column sensitivity or you can reduce your frequency from Mega to 455. I see this allot in the spring. Hope this helps.

I tried 455 and 800, both frequencies have a worse image then the mega. I've been dealing with the issues since I bought the unit new in March I believe it was when the Gen 4 first came out. I've called hummingbird multiple times and finally sent those images to them this morning so I'm waiting to hear back from them. Just seems to me that this unit is too hot and you can't turn it down any

Looks like an algae bloom to me also ...

Can you test on another body of water ...??

I've tested it on 3 different bodies of water. All seem to have the same issue

Is there any chance that it could be interference through my battery disconnect switch? Currently I have one battery that runs the trolling motor the other battery operates the outboard as well as the helix. The positives from both batteries run through the switch, I have a negative on both batteries tied together. When I did my battery charger test yesterday evening one thing I forgot to do was disconnect the charger from the trolling battery so don't know if it could be interference coming through the negative terminal since they're always connected. With the switch set to battery one I should only be pulling current from Battery one and not the trolling battery so just really at a loss so far.

Any common wire connections from electronics power and trolling power can be a source of interference ...

Even a common on board charger can bleed interference into the electronics ...

Test electronics on a separate battery or isolate starting battery from trolling batteries ..
