    Default Baitfish?

I was curious whether this massive school is baitfish. In the first pic you can see some bigger predatory fish. I dropped some jigs in the school with no luck so I'm guessing baitfish.

    YEP !!

I've seen schools of Shad with larger fish "herding" them on my DI unit ... and the screen looked very similar.

Thanks for the response. These schools were so big that the unit thought the top of the school was the bottom of the lake.

LOL .... yeah, I've had that happen to me a few times, too.

Yep exactly what you described, definitely larger fish feeding on that school of Shad. They are hard to trick when there’s that many Shad around in my experiences lol

I think dragging a jig along the bottom (maybe imitating a dying Shad ??) would be the only way to elicit a strike from the fish ... even so, I think you'd probably only have <10% chance of getting the fish to even notice the jig, let alone entice them to eat it. But, hey ... that's still a greater percentage of possibility than dragging the jig thru the hoards of Shad above them.
