    Default Question about Livescope

I am fairly new to LS only used it six or seven trips. My transducer is mounted on my trolling motor and I am having a hard time following or seeing my jig when I drop it on the right side of the trolling motor. Any Thoughts?

    Just guessing here, but ...

Transducer is mounted on the left side of the trolling motor shaft ... so maybe the shaft and motorhead are getting in the way of a clear view of your jig at times ?? Also, the Livescope ping is 20deg ... so the closer your jig gets to the transducer, the more chance it has of not being in the ping column.

I'd suggest if you're going to be vertical jigging with a Livescope ... do it "in front" of the transducer, not off to the side of it.

The standard ducer mount is an 8 degree offset. This is designed so the TM motor does not block the view downward. But this also means the forward view is off by 8 degrees. If you stare at your ducer out of the water you will see it is not parallel to the shaft.

I second crappie pappy post regarding forward view orientation. I am brand new to livescope as well, only 6 or 7 trips on it. First few trips I was using down view for vertical jigging and could never stay on my bait. Forward view fixed it! Forward view is awesome for vertical jigging applications!

So sorry my input goes against your mounting methodology but I sincerely suggest getting a Da Ducer or some other separate method to mount the transducer on.

What he said. Separate pole is much better IMO.

I also recommend a da ducer mount which I have or any type of pole mount. I use a terrova and a separate mount is a must in my opinion. I will find the targeted structure and then use the jog feature to ease around it. Sometimes when the wind is variable either in speed or direction my trolling motor is making constant corrections and a separate mount makes it simpler to keep the structure in view used with a marker.

Even if you mount to a separate pole you will still have an 8 degree offset mount. Thus your jig will often show up on one side but not the other. You can buy the zero degree mount if you go to a separate pole. But the pole itself will not solve your issue (unless spot lock is your issue).

I would also try using braid and a swivel snap about 2 feet above your jig. Braid shows up really well on LS.

I did away with the 8 degree mount. It makes it much harder to track your bait the deeper you fish. The 8 degrees is to see around the trolling motor. Don't need that on a pole. Really doesn't affect my image quality any with or without the 8 degree mount.
