Did you have an external gps puck installed last time?
Documentation mentions, when connected to GPS receiver.

I have an 898 that was off the boat from September til last week and now I can’t figure out how to get the GPS pages to come up. Anyone know what I’ve done?

I had the same thing happen twice to my 598. The first time, the GPS came back just like it left...unexpectedly. And lasted for a couple of years. This last time I have not been able to get it back. GPS works in the demo mode, but not regular use. Have tried formatting and factory settings, but nothing I try forces it to work. Loss of tracks and waypoints were the bad thing. Taught me to back up my data.
Here’s hoping it comes back, I use it when I troll. Depth and side image still work fine and SI was important for finding bluegill beds so it’s not a total loss. And yes, I had the same puck connected last time as I do this time. Thanks for any and all help, a new unit is not in the cards.

Skeet if there is a card in that unit you might eject it, then push it back in. I had an 1198 do the exact same thing as yours when I was fishing one day. It started working and hasn’t happened again.
Did you check connections maybe corroded, did you check wiring for critter damage over the winter?
Redge LIKED above post
“Critter damage” - that’s something I’ve never thought to recommend for troubleshooting ... good thinking ...
BTW Skeet ... the external puck is supposed to be automatically detected in the 898 (because there is no internal GPS in 898) ...
Make Visible the Accessories view under the Views tab and Check if the external gps puck is being recognized ... if GPS does not say “Connected” - it’s a bad connection or the GPS puck is failing ...

Also .... were you on the water when doing your testing?

Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile.
Junky, I’ll pop the card tomorrow and see if that does anything. Thanks
Ricky, I’ll try all that also, but no critter damage possible. It was off the boat and in my shop in a Humminbird bag since it came off of the other woman. And it sounds like I could check the views in the yard so I’ll try that here in a minute. First tests were done on the water.
Thanks for all the input everyone, I’m kinda puzzled. Unit has always been good til now.

Another thing if you haven't already done it is to try resetting defaults.
