    Default Helix-9 SI question

I see fish OK, if they are under the boat but if I set range much over 60 . fish are hard to detect . What distance do you set to search for fish ?

I have a 999 si. Most of the time I’m set to 50’ each side. I read somewhere 3x the depth.

*Activate the cursor by pushing the 4way button ...
*Move the cursor over the target ...
*Press the + button to zoom in on the target up to 6X ...
*Pressing the 4way button with a zoom box open allows zeroing in on the target in the zoom box ...

Setting the SI to one side only (left or right) can also enlarge targets on the displayed image ...

Thanks Rickie will do . Curious if I should see outer better than I am . I see the shadows of fish under the boat well enough in the area not under the boat but fish say 60-90 ft. out . Normal without the cursor and zoom ?

Since, you lost your glasses, go get a better pair. And then check out your SI. LOL

Mine is set to 70 feet on my 12 inch HB G2N Mega unit. I would think a smaller unit than this would make it more difficult to see fish way out to the side. I've seen some really impressive shots out to 100 feet per side on the Mega+ units.

Squashing 120-180ft of bottom detail into a 7” diagonal screen is definitely going to make a 10” fish look pretty small ...

Shorter SI range -and/or one SI side only -and/or zoom box will help ...

Will set range on 40 0R 50 for side image . Thanks Rickie . This should work better for finding bream beds .

Something else to try is adjusting the Sharpness setting for both the DI and SI screens. With one of those selected, press the menu button and you should see DI/SI Enhance, open that and then you will see Sharpness. I run mine on Low. I set my SI to 75 feet on my Helix 12.
