Are you just hitting the mark button or are you taking the courser out to the spot and marking it with courser on top of the spot.
I mostly use the garmin striker 7sv for scanning underneath docks, and have been very sucessful in that respect. occasionally though Ill see a nice brush pile loaded with crappie out in open water that Id like to fish. When I mark that brushpile with a waypoint from sidevu, clearvu, or 2d the waypoint is always directly on the boat location when I go to the waypoint map. What gives?? I want to mark the fish not the boat. Anybody familiar with this unit?
Thanks in Advance
SH

I think this may help you solve your problem. They also have a short video on YouTube that shows how to do it. Way different procedure than I have used on others units.

Thanks Cray I’ll try it again next time I go out. I must be missing something though. Because when I set a waypoint out away from the boat and go to the waypoint map the waypoint is on the boat. At that point I can move the little circle off the boat and drop another waypoint but alas that’s just making a waypoint In the abyss.

The way I understood both the video and those instructions was that you go into the waypoint map, then move courser over to brush pile then hit mark. I just have never fooled with a Garmin. Like I said the directions the way I understand them is different than my birds or Lowrance. Just take your time and you will get it figured out. Then you will love it.

Just a thought, are you zoomed in enough, or has your boat traveled far enough, so you can discern the difference/distance back to the way point?

That’s a good point Redge. That may be all it is. I’ll give it a try. Probably something simple.
Thank you

Redge I believe you hit the nail right on the head. Problem solved. First Garmin I’ve owned and Cray your right it’s very different than other units. Thanks Cray and Redge.

In Garmin pressing the Mark button creates a waypoint at the boat - regardless if the cursor is activated or not ...
To create a waypoint at the cursor position - activate cursor and press Select ...
