    Default Widest down view

    Hi
I have a HDS9 Gen2 thats still chugging along, with an SS2 transducer.

My question is which is the wider down view of the water column using the SS2 transducer; the standard down view which uses only the center piezo or using side scan but only looking at the water coverage, not the bottom of the lake to the sides.
    (455 or 800kHz )
I know this is likely a poorly written question.
What I'm trying to see is fish in the water column under the boat . I really can't detect schools of fish out to the sides as in true down scanning of the bottom for brush or trees.

    Thanks

DI only covers about 75° of the water column looking straight down ...

Side imaging also covers everything in the water column between the green triangle (DI) and the red triangle (SI) ...

    Added notes ...

Lowrance does not publish imaging beam specs ... Previous post specs are approximate ....

We do know that Lowrance Structure Scan 3D has noticeable more SI range than LSS1 or LSS2 ... which leads us to reason that SS3D has wider SI beam specs ...
