Default Found the lost motor this morning

Well we found the lost motor this morning with sonar and took a grabbling hook and retrieved it from the lake. Thank everyone that has give us ideas and setting to help find it. A Friend of mine had a 7" Helix si chirp 2nd Gen. that made this picture and way point to find it. Will show pictures of what the 25 hp 4 stroke evindrude looked like at the bottom of the lake. I would also like to say that if anyone ever has to retrieve a motor take plenty of help because they are very very heavy to get off the bottom. If you look right above the prop you can see the little square battery that showed up best to let us know this was the motor. The owner is headed to the boat motor shop to have it fixed. I will let everyone know how that goes later also. If anyone has a boat motor that is not bolted to the transom please drill the holes and bolt it as the little screw clamps will not hold it secure enough. No one was hurt from this motor this time coming off but a few years ago a girl lost her arm from a motor that come off and flipped back it the boat.

Well I just heard from my friend that they have already got his motor fixed and running already. They said they drilled the motor transom holes and bolted it down this time for him. When we found the motor it was in reverse I don't think he hit something I thing he reversed it while running wide open but who knows. He said it cost him less than $200.00 for the boat motor mechanic to get it fixed and back to running. Motor was under water about 10 to 11 days. Here is a picture of it when we got it up and back in his boat. All I can say is he was really lucky as this motor cost close to $5000.00 new and it had less than 3 hours on it. I would like to say again if your motor is not bolted through the transom do it before you take it back out again the little motor clamps will not hold it if something happens.

I did not expect it to look so clean after being on the bottom. Great find and retrieve

Couldn't put it in the other boat while it was in the deeper water. So we tied it to the side of our bass tracker boat and taxied it to shallow water to be able to lift it in the john boat. Figure a lots of the mud was washed of then.

I figured that they got it fixed so fast because they sold the rig new to him. But they are a really good company as far as I have heard.
