I had a 25 Nissan years ago, that stayed under water for two weeks. Got it home , drained the foot, drained the carb, cranked it over with no plugs. Installed new plugs and it’s still running today. That was Christmas Eve 2001.

Great job on finding and retreiving the motor. Persistance pays off. Could you show pictures on how it's bolted through the transom. Thank you...

Good that he found it, and thank God it was fresh water.
I recently bought a new Alweld Jon boat and a 20 hp Mercury from a west coast dealer.
When they mounted the motor i wasent permitted to be in the shop, it wasen’t even in the shop anyway but outside.
But i had told them i wanted the motor bolted thru the 2 holes Mercury provided for it.
It took two 5/16 by about 2 3/4” bolts and probably all of 15 minits.
They didn’t even demonstrate how the motor functioned, and simply brought it to my vehicle when they were finished.
I had already paid for the boat and motor earlier by credit card, but they wanted $50 bucks more for the bolts which i paid. Mind you I’m glad it’s bolted, especially after reading about this incident. But for the $50 bucks i would have done it myself. Unfortunately there are no Alweld dealers on the east coast, and I’ve told Alweld they need one.

Well my friend was back out on the lake this morning with the motor he had lost. It was running just fine. So just in case someone loses there motor it is possible to be found with sonar.

Never thought the image would look like that on imaging but glad everything worked out and got it back to working again.

That is a picture of the motor on his sonar after he stopped the sonar and enlarged the sonar picture to make sure it was the motor he was looking at.
