Default garmin 73 sv vs helix 7 sv g3nu

Trying to decide between these brands, I want to future proof as much as possible. Would like to grow into mega 360 vs live scope on the garmin. I go to BP and compare these and the images on the side view and down view are worlds apart. One can tell on the inferior garmin images whats below, just not as crisp. But the live scope vs the 360 that is another debate but one I would like to decide on since I want to future proof my purchase. I will say that navigating the garmin is much easier and quicker than the helix.

Either one is fine, I have both on my boat, I admit they are different, but one or the other will do what I want.

360 shows all the way around the boat --> with no user input ...

LiveScope must be aimed at the target --> by the user ...

    2 completely different tools ...

This is why some have both ...

If you are thinking of a Mega 360, the 7 won't work for you. You have to have a mega + unit and the 7 isn't +.

You will have to go to the 8 SI G3n unit or larger to support the mega 360. The 8 is a much better unit all the way around than the 7.

Just my opinion but the 360 searches a big area and the live scope pins it down.

to be honest either the live scope or the mega 360 are quite a ways down the road, so future proofing is probably not as critical. My boat is only a 14 foot john boat so a larger unit takes up space to have to work around. A 7" unit will likely be as large as I need to go for now. If and when I get a little larger boat then I could move the 7" unit to the bow.

if you are truly looking to buy a unit to view either one of the items metioned then i can promise you that you need to get a bigger screen, 10'' minimum, you can buy smaller, and say you have such and such but to actually get your moneys worth and utilize the unit you need to be able to see the info its showing you! i speak from experience brother and am just trying to save you money in the long run, you'll want a big screen front and back, especially on the bow where its further from your face, and i don't think your eyesight is improving, so "future proof" by going big
