Default Networking Helix 9 g2n si to Helix 7 g3n si

I just bought a new boat and asked for an upgraded hummingbird on the dash so I can install my Helix 9 g2n on the bow and network them. So, I now have a Helix 7 g3n, adapter and network cable (have to purchase another adapter cable). I called Humminbird to see which transducer they recommended and was surprised. They suggested the xnt 9 hw msi 150t compact transducer that came with the 7 (because its gen3) and not the big xp9 20 msi t that came with the 9.
Does anyone have anything productive to share on networking? This will be my first networked system.

    History lesson ...:

In previous core series units HB would not recommend the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T (Hi Def SI) for any unit that came stock with the XNT 9 SI 180 T (Compact SI) simply because those smaller SI units were not capable of transmitting all the frequency capabilities of the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T --- specifically the smaller units could not transmit the 800kHz imaging frequency ...

    Now to today ...:

HB would not recommend the XM 9 HW MSI T for the HELIX 7 CHIRP MEGA SI because this smaller unit cannot transmit all the frequency capabilities of the XM 9 HW MSI T --- specifically the HELIX 7 CHIRP MEGA SI cannot transmit the 800kHz imaging frequency ...

    Now will it work ...??

    Most likely ...

    Will it be better ...??

I can only assume yes because there are no comparison pix that I've seen ...

Well damn. She told me the g3n transducer would provide the better images. She recommended to use the g3n helix 7 and then run the helix 9 gen off of it. Because of the chirp and g3n would have better signal.
I'm looking at the 8" long transducer and that compact. I dont see how. But this is Greek to me

Did you have a reason for not wanting to mount the transducer for the Helix 9 at the bow?

I tried running a side scan of the foot of a trolling motor once. As long as I drove straight the data made sense. Also transducer integrity in stumpy areas was a problem.

Just a caution when using the transom transducer for the bow unit. If you have a transom GPS receiver then would recommend also using that as a network source when using the transom transducer for creating more accurate waypoints (if marking waypoints on bow unit).

consider going to the 8 SI G3n, you get double the power of the 7 and also an extra card slot, better transducer and extra size. Pretty good for the little extra the 8 costs.
