Default Why does it look like this?

Hopefully you can tell what I’m talking about. This is about 17’ of water and I should have a large dark space that shows under the boat on SI but for some reason it is cloudy. It has been fine and I haven’t changed anything to make it do like that. Now chirp was on so I changed the frequency to 400 and it changed to how it was supposed to look. I’m just wondering why it was looking like that with chirp on in fairly deep water?Name: IMG_0858.JPG

This time of year an algae bloom can really be accentuated by the CHIRP frequencies or MEGA imaging ... But I have never seen one quite that severe in the water column ...

Do you have access to another head unit you could try connected to that xducer ...??

No afraid not. I could see that being algae/vegetation in the water. There was quite a bit of grass floating around in it yesterday.

This is of no help, but my Helix 7 si looked exactly the same the other day. But on the next day out, i was normal again. I concluded it must be something in the water stirred up, wind was blowing hard.

Were you at the same lake? And was there a lot of trash in the water?

Yes it was the same lake 2 or 3 days later. There was not any noticeable trash in the water.

A lot of pine tree pollen falling here in North Louisiana. Not sure if that could be dispersed in the water and that could have been an issue for me.

Algae/pollen. See the same thing here every year. Yes mine is every bit as bad as yours. Yes I have to run mine in 400 for a few weeks until things start to clear up.
