Helix 9 networked to helix 7 g2n?

I have a first generation model Helix 9 that I want to network with a new Helix 7 G2N that just purchased. Will I need a network hub or can I just connect them with an Ethernet cable?

AS ETH 5XPG is not needed for only 2 devices ...

You will need an AS EC QDE adapter cable for each HELIX ... http://www.humminbird.com/Products/AS-EC-QDE/

Then you will need an Ethernet cable long enough to reach http://www.humminbird.com/Freshwater...s/?facets=7319,

I forgot to mention that I have a Terrova trolling motor with i-Pilot link hooked up to the helix 9 right now. That will probably require me to buy the network hub won’t it?
