    Well I'd guess a crappie at 50' fow would look pretty small, just like they would on any DI unit. Most bass would as well. Not saying you can't see them but guessing the fish returns would be really small, espically if the fish are holding close to the bottom and 50 feet or so from the boat. I'd also guess you would need a larger screen size, like a 12", this would help. Just a guess on my part from what I've seen using traditional sonar.

    Reason i ask is on our lake crappie go deep Dec through Feburary, sit near the bottom, 40-50 ft

    Brett, you are asking good questions. I wonder about tight lining slow when crappie transition between deep to the creek mouths in 35 to 20 foot range? Should be good on the humps between the deep to deep spots off river bed channel. I like what I see but I think I'll wait. This puts it at three choices for me when I do upgrade. Lowrance HDS 12 or Helix 12 mega, now livescope!
