    Default Hunninbird transducer leaking

I have had two HB Sonar transducers that were mounted on the Trolling motor .. with the motor stowed the Transducer is on the side ... There is a Black Tar like substance that slowly creeps out over time and drips on the Base mounting.. this substance is something else --- it locked the release lock so I could not get the Motor up to put the Boat on the Trailer -- I had to take the motor off and lay it in the Boat.. The stickey Goo had to be scraped off with a knife... Paint thinner has no effect on this stuff. You can not clean this stuff off to seal where the wire enters with Silicone ---- this is the third transducer that have all leaked the third transducer was on the Back of the Boat

That's the epoxy resin HB uses to encompass the piezoes inside the xducer housing ... Not a good thing to be leaking out ...

    Call HB ... 1-800-633-1468

I called the Number -- Rep said no Body has this problem and had no answer of what can be used to Remove this Stuff that has leaked into the Lock on the TM base. I told her there has to be Something because where the Transducers are made it Gets on their Equipment --- her first statement was contact the Boat Manuf. or TM Manuf to see what to use. I said they dont use the Epoxy so there would not be an answer there.. After about 10 minutes she would have someone else call me from where they are Made. I got to get this Gunk out of the TM lock ...

Well three days and have not had a return call from Humminbird ... I know they are in Business of selling sonar and Equipment --- When I get my New Helix I will seal where the wire enters with Epoxy before The Transducer is put on the Transom
