Default Helix 12 SI vs Helix 10 DI down image comparrison

I recently purchased a 12 si and 10 di for my boat. I've only had them on the water a few times to test out and it seems like every time I get out, the rain comes and I have to leave. One thing I noticed when I was out was that the DI unit had better down imaging than the rear SI unit. I haven't messed with any settings yet but I'm assuming these should be very comparable. Can anyone else verify this? I hope to get out this weekend and do some more testing.

Assuming the SI unit is a first gen Helix 12 .... the DI from that series unit is derived via software from the SI beams. It does not have a transducer element dedicated to DI like the 2nd generation units do.

These are both brand new mega gen 2 units.

You need to include the full model numbers in your post. Is the DI unit the model with the low Q transducer?

    Not sure.

SI is 12 CHIRP MEGA SI GPS Combo Model: 410400-1
    DI is 10 MEGA DI G2N CHIRP / 410510-1

Looks like that DI unit is the new low Q transducer. It does have improved 2D due to the low Q but I don't know if there is anything different with the DI element .... maybe Rickie will have some more insight.

It is possible it is just getting the settings adjusted on the SI unit. I don't have one of those, but I think there is an offset in the imaging sensitivity settings that allow you to adjust the DI seperately from the SI sensitivity.

The difference in DI imaging "looking better" on the HELIX 10 MEGA DI could be attributed to the higher pixel density of the HELIX 10 screen ...

I'm not aware of any documentation indicating the DI piezoes are any different in the MEGA SI xducer and the MEGA DI xducer ...

Possibly but I believe the 12 has higher resolution than the 10 screen. I hope to do some testing this Friday. I’ll take some screenshot comparisons.

I was mistaken ... You are correct ...

    Helix 9-----11,393 per square inch
    Helix 10----14,221 per square inch
    Helix 12----15,626 per square inch
