    Default Transducer alignment

No doubt discussed already but how do you know your transducer on a TM is really pointing straight down?
Seems like its not as good as it use to be
    Thanks

Actually, most of them are probably not pointing "straight down", since most boats don't sit level in the water. But, I don't know as it makes all that much difference in the image you're seeing on the screen to have the transducer tilted a few degrees forward. At least I haven't seen any noticeable distortion of my screen image when I kick my trolling motor into high gear, even though I know my trolling motor shaft will flex forward a couple of inches during a "rabbit start".

I'm trying to sit right on top of brush so there's not much room for error,
I know when I sit up front the boat goes down in the water up there too
    Thanks

You can use the "coin method". For the transom.
While on the water, with a small level -
-put it on something flat on the boat
    - put some coins under it till it's level (write down how many)
-when you get home, put the level on the same spot, put the same coins under it. Raise or lower the tongue jack until it's level. Now set the transducer level.

Could this work for the bow too?
Now that you gave me the idea. Maybe put that small level right on the top of the tm, with some tape. Go sit in the seat and try to get an idea of what s happening

I don't see why it wouldn't work. Just keep in mind what crappie pappy said about "rabbit starts". That will mess up the reading for a couple seconds.

Trying to get too precise may be pointless.
Even 1/2 a tank of gas vs full would change it.
    Live well also

I like mine tilted a little to the front that way when i turn the motor if i come off the brush say when it is turn right i know i am at the right edge and if i come off the brush and say i turn it left i know the brush is to the left,it does not affect the pic, been doing it since 2d came out.if you want it straight down put a tennis ball on a weight and a float at the top of water and get near the float and see how well you see the ball and then turn motor and see if you can see the ball in all direction ,better to do it beside a dock or something and hold it still
