Really nice shots! I love my MEGA! Some people doubt me when I say that I can see the profiles of individual fish but pictures like these don't lie.

I wonder if pixel count is the important feature in screen resolution how it would look if a Helix 10 Mega was compared to a Helix CHIRP 12 unit?? Currently the price for a 10 Mega is about $1700 and a 12 CHIRP is at $1450.

ANy suggestions as to this comparison ?? Just wondering if if the larger screen size would make up the gap enough to offset the real Mega advantage of additional MHZ frequency.......

Nope...you’re talking apples and oranges. There’s is no way a Helix 12 CHIRP unit will give you the clarity...sharpness...and target separation on the Mega Helix 10 G2N imaging side of the unit. Plus the transducers are not the same........

I was going to buy the 9 Mega but when i saw them side by side the 10 had more resolution.
The 9 has 384k pixels in its screen resolution, the 10 has 614 k in its resolution,
So your getting about 60-70 percent more pixels in only an inch bigger screen, definitely much better resolution, was it worth 400 bucks more???

i bounced down to Patoka Res. 40 miles south of me, 8k acres full of standing timber and down trees. Mega 9 is well worth the bucks as crispness and pics really jump out at you as awesome looking. I know bigger is better but for the bang of the buck, this works for me as I don’t have a problem in filling my freezer to begin with. It will be interesting to see what the competion of Hummingbird comes up with, in the future, to compete with the Helix Megas as Hummingbird has definitely set the bar this time, super high. I am super happy with the Mega 9”.

Your killing me, great pics. Bow season just started on the 1st and here I am, waiting for the weekend to launch a boat and play with a new Mega instead of stand hunting . And they are finally predicting rain this coming weekend after 3-4 weeks of it being so friggin dry. I fully intend to get wet too! Great pics of that dock and fish.

Ok this is the mega, is there any way to adjust my 998 to get these kind of shots? I use to love it but the more I see post of the newer units , I just keep adjusting and get frustrated.

While the 998 does not have the 1200kHz MEGA frequency - it can still provide decent images ...

*Use 800kHz for more detail close to the boat ...
*Adjust SI Sensitivity to brighten/darken the image ...
*Scan at 2-3mph matching Chart speed ...
*Keep the boat as straight as possible ...
*Try the Inverse SI pallete ...
*Setting Beam Frequency under the Sonar tab to 200kHz (shutting off the 83kHz) even seems to help SI imaging ...
