I can only tell you my experience. We all have a budget and I understand that but I would think long and hard about buying a Helix 10 non Mega unit over a Mega unit. My HB 899 bit the dust and was going to be right at 300 bucks for repair. I just couldn’t see spending that much on old technology when I could put it towards the Helix 10 Mega. All the images you see are real. I fished a tail race this morning. I knew it would be tough as they were not running much water. The place was void of fish......did a quick scan of the same tree pic I posted and bingo.......KY bass on. Of course my unit is under a 2 year warranty.......but if it wasn’t, and it went bad, I would purchase another one tomorrow. I can see fish at a glance now.......they just pop out at you.

Thats pretty impressive, I really didn't know the mega is that much better. I also see stuff like send the ducer in before you open it and get the upgraded one , is the mega ducer already upgraded ?

The Mega transducer is not upgradable.......you get great imaging right out of the box. There is an deep water transducer but I don’t know anything about it nor do I know of anyone who uses it.......

I spent 5 hrs today on a lake learning and setting up my new Helix Mega 9” and WOW. No comparesone to my 7” Touch HDS lowrance. What a depth finder. Hummingbird has outdone themselves on this one. The Mega rocks! And even tho there’s lots of settings and adjustments it’s really pretty easy getting used to it and the settings. Still a lot to learn tho. Love the Mega!!

I have the Mega 10 and love it
I was going to buy the 9 Mega but when i saw them side by side the 10 had more resolution.
The 9 has 384k pixels in its screen resolution, the 10 has 614 k in its resolution,
So your getting about 60-70 percent more pixels in only an inch bigger screen, definitely much better resolution, was it worth 400 bucks more???

Nice pics Ralo79 as I enjoyed the pics the 9” gave me today. I don’t think anybody will be disappointed in any of the Helix Mega Hummingbirds they get as they all give crisp clear pics. They are the “Blue Ray dvd’s” of the fish finders!

Couple of Mega shots. No comparison in the image quality in the Mega and the 1198 I was using before.
